Ka Maua Pua Hiwahiwa (Our Precious Flower)

Chrissy will be two years old soon. She is now running, climbing, dancing, balancing and making our bed her trampoline. I love to see her so active and hope it never stops. She is our pua hiwahiwa, or precious flower. It is amazing to think that our baby girl has been with us for twenty one months so far. I think my favorite time with her is when she is showing me what she is learning. She says new words in Hawaiian and uses them correctly and it makes me so happy. I actually cried when I heard her first count in Hawaiian. She still misses the 6 and the 9, but I'm just as happy without those silly old numbers.

She loves to look for daddy when she wakes up in the morning. She starts out of her room saying, "Ooooh Daaaddy . . . ," and peeks her head into the bedroom to see if he is there. One of the cutest things that she has been doing for a while is when we tell her, "I love you." She responds by saying, "I love you." Then one of us will say, "You do?" and she says, "I do. Awwwww," and then automatically moves in to hug us. The "awww" part is her mimicking our own reaction when she says, "I do."

I never knew little girls were so dang cute. I wonder if I was this sweet when I was a little girl. Seeing her learn and listening to her "yabba dabba doo talk" makes me wonder how I made my mom feel when I was her age. My mom must have had many moments of joy at this phase of my development, because I am having a blast.
